Project Playground 2.0 and Laura Short Photography bring you Project Playground 2.0 Zombie 5K!
Project Playground 2.0 Zombie 5K took place on October 22, 2017. The starting and finishing line were both at Gardner Field in Denville, NJ. Several residents of Denville and neighboring towns showed up to run the 3.1 mile course. Mayor Andes was present to pull the canon to signal the start of the race. Runners ran through a course with zombies trying to tag them with bright orange hazardous stickers.
Several business sponsored the event including Foodtown, StudioM, Denville Mart, and Stretch Source. Runners were presented with swag bags at the end of the race to say thank you for your donation to Project Playground 2.0. You can see the full list of donations here.
Several students from Morris Knolls High School donated their afternoon to being the zombies for the race and looked absolutely amazing. There were photographs taken at the finish line with the talented Bethany Schadel Kenny from the Jerzey Derby Brigade for those that wanted to participate. The background was loaned by Joe Kuryla from The Shipping Grounds in Denville. The super hilarious and pretty scary zombie that chased runners at the finish line and through the event crowd was Gene Fitzpatrick.
Tommy Carney was the official race winner with a time of 18:57.6.
